Practised by One of the largest tribes in India- The Gond from Madhya Pradesh But can also be found in Andhra Pradesh, chattisgarh, Maharashtra & Odisha.

Gond painting is saga of wonderful lines, Dots & Dashes, Flora & Faunas, people & nature, crowded by birds & the relationship human have with trees. The work of Gond artist is rooted in their folk tales & culture, Thus storytelling is a strong element of every painting.

The Gond people believe that viewing a good image begets good luck & they decorate their houses with traditional motifs.It has also been used by Gond people to record their history.

Art is created out of carefully drawn lines. Lines are used in such a way to Convey a sense of movement. Paints are usually derived from objects such as charcoal,coloured soil, plant sap, mud, flowers , leaves & cow dung.

Redeveloping the art forms with contemporary understanding .Gond artists are experimenting with new mediums, thoughts while keeping the style intact. Nowadays, the tribals artists are not just painting the canvas but have evolved to the wooden trays, boxes & bookcovers etc.
